Editorial Policy

The standards behind our scenario-led recommendations, sourcing, corrections, and commercial independence.

Our editorial promise

Plug or Pass exists to make consumer technology easier to evaluate in real life. We choose coverage for reader usefulness, not because a merchant offers a commission. Editorial contributors are responsible for the framing, tradeoffs, and final wording of every guide.

Evidence and product claims

We distinguish published product information from editorial inference. Manufacturer documentation is our preferred primary source for compatibility, supported features, safety guidance, and model distinctions. We may link to retailers for current availability, but a merchant title is not treated as the sole technical source.

When an article is based on published specifications and scenario analysis, we do not imply physical use. We never fabricate benchmarks, measurements, certifications, warranty terms, prices, review counts, or first-person experience. Product configurations and availability can change, so each commercial guide displays a last-checked date.

How products are selected

We create a purchase brief first: intended reader, environment, primary job, compatibility constraints, and acceptable tradeoff. Products are included as comparison starting points when they represent meaningfully different ways to satisfy that brief. We do not use numerical ratings without a documented methodology.

Corrections and updates

If a factual error is identified, we review the primary source and update the article where appropriate. Material updates change the displayed updated date. Readers and manufacturers can send a correction with supporting documentation to hello@plugorpass.com.

Commercial independence

Affiliate eligibility does not guarantee coverage or a favorable conclusion. Commission-bearing links, when active, are disclosed before the first commercial call to action. Advertisers and merchants do not receive approval rights over editorial conclusions.
